There is a piperonic acid moiety in piperine which is one of the sharp-tasting constituents in black pepper and used as an insecticide. Piperonylic acid has a characteristic structure which cyclic ether containing two oxygen atoms is fused to benzoic acid. It can be used in the application in antibacterial and antiviral activity and fragrant properties products as well as in other pharmaceuticals. Heliotropine (piperonal), an extract of sassafras used for manufacturing perfumes and soaps, is an aldehyde form of piperonic acid. | ||
